Dalmore Whisky King Alexander III Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Old Bottling) (70cl / 40%)
To make the Dalmore whisky, King Alexander III, Master Distiller Richard Paterson selected a range of differently aged malts matured in a mixure of French wine casks, Madeira drums, sherry butts, Marsala barrels, port pipes and bourbon barrels from Kentucky. A remarkable feat of blending to create a very fine Scotch whisky.
This Dalmore whisky, named after King Alexander III, is an exquisitely balanced blend of six different casks. Each cask is specially selected from french regions, Marsala casks, Port pipes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Madeira barrels and Matusalem Olorose sherry wood. The mixture is surprisingly smooth and unsurpringly incredibly complex. This is a whisky suitable for any senior whisky connoisseur and should not be wasted on juniors due to its rarity and value.
Nose: chocolate and nuts, both flesh and shells, toffee, touches of spiced raisin and vanilla.
Palate: measured sugary sweetness to start, with orange and vanilla backed up by sweet raisins, raspberry and winey touches.
Finish: Spicy oak, polished wood and liquorice root.
